{"id":300665,"date":"2026-02-23T13:48:36","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T21:48:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/?p=300665"},"modified":"2026-02-23T13:48:36","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T21:48:36","slug":"tesla-two-big-upgrades-model-3-coding-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-two-big-upgrades-model-3-coding-shows\/","title":{"rendered":"Tesla is making two big upgrades to the Model 3, coding shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tesla is making two big upgrades to the Model 3, one of which is widely requested by owners and fans, and another that it has already started to make on some trim levels of other models within the lineup.<\/p>\n<p>The changes appear to be taking effect in the European and Chinese markets, but these are expected to come to the United States based on what Tesla has done with the Model Y.<\/p>\n<p>According to coding found in the European and Chinese configurators, Tesla is planning to make two big upgrades: Black Headliner offerings and a new 16-inch QHD display, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-model-y-performance-review-best-trim-best-vehicle\/\">similar to that on the Model Y Performance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These changes in the coding were spotted by X user BERKANT, who shared the findings on the social media platform this morning:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83d\udea8 Model 3 changes spotted in Tesla backend<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 New interior code: IN3PB (Interior 3 Premium Black)<br \/>\n\u2022 Linked to Alcantara-style black headliner<br \/>\n\u2022 Mapped to 2026 Model 3 Performance and Premium VINs<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 EPC now shows: \u201cDisplay_16_QHD\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 Multiple 2026 builds marked with\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OkDM5EdbTu\">pic.twitter.com\/OkDM5EdbTu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BERKANT (@Tesla_NL_TR) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Tesla_NL_TR\/status\/2025947628450533402?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 23, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>It appears these new upgrades will roll out with the Model 3 Performance and Tesla&#8217;s Premium trim levels of the all-electric sedan.<\/p>\n<p>The changes are welcome. Tesla fans have been requesting that its Model 3 and Model Y offerings receive a black headliner, as even with the black interior options, the headliner is grey.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-makes-big-interior-change-several-model-y-vehicles\/\">Tesla recently upgraded Model Y vehicles to this black headliner option<\/a>, even in the United States, so it seems as if the Model 3 will get the same treatment as it appears to be getting in the Eastern hemisphere.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"QGy2SqWyZS\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-model-3-wins-edmunds-best-ev-2026-award\/\">Tesla Model 3 wins Edmunds&#8217; Best EV of 2026 href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-launches-new-model-3-financing-deal-awesome-savings\/\">Tesla offered an excellent 0.99% APR last week<\/a> on the Model 3, hoping to push more units out the
