{"id":295772,"date":"2025-10-22T10:56:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T17:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/?p=295772"},"modified":"2025-10-22T10:56:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T17:56:30","slug":"tesla-new-safety-report-autopilot-nine-times-safer-humans-q3-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-new-safety-report-autopilot-nine-times-safer-humans-q3-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Tesla&#8217;s new Safety Report shows Autopilot is nine times safer than humans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tesla&#8217;s new Safety Report for Q3 shows Autopilot technology contributed to accident frequency that was nine times lower than the national average.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla released its Vehicle Safety Report for Q3 2025, and it showed that one crash was recorded every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-q2-2025-vehicle-safety-report-fsd-10x-safer\/\">6.36 million miles drive in which drivers were using Autopilot technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is a stark contrast from the most recent data made available by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), which shows there is an automobile crash approximately every 702,000 miles.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Autopilot &amp; FSD Supervised safety data<\/p>\n<p>In Q3 2025, we recorded 1 crash for every 6.36 million miles driven in which drivers were using Autopilot technology<\/p>\n<p>By comparison, the most recent data available from NHTSA &amp; FHWA (from 2023) shows that in the United States there was an\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8isNe7X4vg\">pic.twitter.com\/8isNe7X4vg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tesla (@Tesla) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Tesla\/status\/1981044908581584924?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 22, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The figure for Q3 2025 is slightly lower than the one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-publishes-q3-2024-vehicle-safety-report\/\">that Tesla released in Q3 2024<\/a>, which eclipsed 7 million miles between accidents for drivers using Autopilot technology.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past seven quarters, Q1 has been Tesla&#8217;s strongest showing with the Vehicle Safety Report, with Q4 being the weakest. With the data Tesla gets from its use across its vehicle fleet, it gets more refined and more accurate with every passing mile.<\/p>\n<p>The company has teased the potential for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-full-self-driving-offer-insured-for-almost-free-lemonade\/\">completely unsupervised Full Self-Driving releases<\/a> in the future, but Tesla has to solve
