Through the partnership, the two companies aim to reduce overall electric vehicle (EV) costs.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cOne of the most important problems that has fundamentally not been solved nor attracted widespread attention is battery life. According to&nbsp;<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/autos-transportation\/china-ev-maker-nio-has-completed-40-million-battery-swaps-so-far-2024-03-14\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Reuters<\/span><\/em><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, EV batteries usually have warranties for 8 years. Nio noted that nearly 20 million&nbsp;<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/catl-battery-tech-chinese-electric-vehicles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">EV battery<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;warranties will expire between 2025 and 2032.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The EV company pointed out that EV battery life spans are typically shorter than the life span of a car. It also compared that expense of replacing power packs versus EV batteries.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/catl-xiaomi-baic-joint-venture-intelligent-battery-plant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">CATL<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;and Nio will work on extending the life span of swappable EV batteries.
