{"id":253190,"date":"2023-12-08T12:42:38","date_gmt":"2023-12-08T20:42:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/?p=253190"},"modified":"2025-03-03T10:02:52","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T18:02:52","slug":"world-s-fastest-tesla-model-s-plaid-undergoes-major-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/world-s-fastest-tesla-model-s-plaid-undergoes-major-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"World&#8217;s fastest Tesla Model S Plaid undergoes major changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may have seen the formerly wrecked, then gutted 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid that had most of its body cut off and set the quarter mile record back in August, but now, it is a completely different creation dubbed the &#8220;Plaidessey.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>YouTube channel BoostedBoiz is making another major change by chopping off what little remained of the Plaid and dropping a 2001 Honda Odyssey body onto what&#8217;s left to create the &#8220;ultimate sleeper.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4672671650557568\" data-ad-slot=\"7845413937\"><\/ins><script>(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/div>\n<p>In all fairness, the Odyssey body actually fits pretty well over the Model S, with less than two inches separating the wheelbase and only minor changes needed for the fenders.<\/p>\n<p>One hurdle was the B pillar of the van not lining to where the Model S had its B pillar, but once the front windshield of the Model S was cut off, it made the accessibility into the car much easier.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-253212 media-253212\" class=\"align-none\">\n<p><div style=\"width: 1893px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Plaidessey2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1883\" height=\"896\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The &#8220;Plaidessey&#8221; halfway through the changes (Credit: BoostedBoiz YouTube)<\/p><\/div><\/figure>\n<p>Before this major alteration, they set the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-model-s-plaid-new-quarter-mile-best-time-boostedboiz\/\">Model S Plaid quarter mile world record<\/a> by running 8.71 seconds down the dragstrip after cutting off the body and adding an aluminum shell to help with aerodynamics.<\/p>\n<p>After setting the world record, they ran into another problem with the suspension getting stuck in low mode and even took it by a couple of Tesla dealerships in Florida to see if they could help with the issue.
