Giertz\u2019s dream is rather simple: she wants a Tesla that\u2019s a pickup truck, and while Elon Musk has pledged to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-pickup-truck-price-elon-musk\/\">unveil an actual Tesla Truck<\/a> later this year, the YouTuber noted that she\u2019s not really very keen on waiting for the yet-to-be-unveiled vehicle. Thus, she decided to just make her own Tesla Truck, or \u201cTruckla,\u201d for short. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Giertz opted to utilize a Model 3 for the project, since the vehicle featured a frame that was easier to work with than a Model S or Model X. A number of designs were considered for the \u201cTruckla,\u201d including a rather humorous one that involved taking off the Model 3\u2019s rear and putting a flatbed in its place. Ultimately, Giertz opted to create a coupe utility vehicle in the spirit of classic muscle cars such as the Chevrolet El Camino. That is, it will be a Model 3 with the top part of its rear taken off. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4672671650557568\" data-ad-slot=\"7845413937\"><\/ins><script>(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The self-described \u201cqueen of sh*tty robots\u201d then took on the task of assembling a team of individuals who could help bring the \u201cTruckla\u201d to life. Among these included Bay Area mechanic and artist <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Marcos Ramirez (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/bridgeservicemotors.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Marcos Ramirez<\/a>, Tesla DIY enthusiast Richard Benoit (better known on YouTube as <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCfV0_wbjG8KJADuZT2ct4SA\" target=\"_blank\">Rich Rebuilds<\/a><\/em>), and German designer\/YouTuber <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Laura Kampf (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCRix1GJvSBNDpEFY561eSzw\" target=\"_blank\">Laura Kampf<\/a>. Through a long journey that involved its own fair share of trial and error, Giertz\u2019s dream vehicle was created. The \u201cTruckla\u201d was born. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The \u201cTruckla\u201d might polarize the EV enthusiast community due to its coupe utility vehicle looks, but the vehicle is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/tesla-pickup-truck-performance-porsche-911-elon-musk\/\">actual pickup truck<\/a> nonetheless. In a \u201ccommercial\u201d for the vehicle, the Model 3 truck could even be seen driving with ease on unpaved roads. There\u2019s a lumber rack with lights, and it has a fully workable bed. Giertz remarked that the endeavor would probably be \u201cthe smartest or the most stupid thing I\u2019m ever going to do\u201d when she was introducing the Model 3 pickup truck project. Potentially polarizing looks aside, the fact that the vehicle works, has a bed, and is an actual pickup, makes one inclined to think that it\u2019s the former. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2019\/6\/18\/18682633\/simone-giertz-tesla-model-3-pickup-truck-youtube-diy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">The Verge<\/a><\/em> about the project, the YouTuber noted that the \u201cTruckla,\u201d despite its humorous and near crazy connotations, is a vehicle that she really wanted. \u201cI really hope that people don\u2019t just think of this as an obnoxious YouTuber cutting up a brand new car. This process has destructive steps, but the end goal is constructive. And I\u2019m doing it because I really, really want this car.
