The Boring Company has cleared one of its most significant regulatory milestones yet, securing a key easement from the Music City Center in Nashville just days ago, the latest in a series of approvals that have pushed the Music City Loop project firmly into construction reality.

On March 24, 2026, the Convention Center Authority voted to grant The Boring Company access to an easement along the west side of the Music City Center property, allowing tunneling beneath the privately owned venue. The move follows a unanimous 7-0 vote by the Metro Nashville Airport Authority on February 18, and a joint state and federal approval from the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration on February 25. Together, these green lights have cleared the path for a roughly 10-mile underground tunnel connecting downtown Nashville to Nashville International Airport, with potential extensions into midtown along West End Avenue.

Music City Loop could highlight The Boring Company’s real disruption

Nashville was selected by The Boring Company largely because of its rapid population growth and the strain that growth has placed on surface infrastructure. Traffic has become a persistent problem for residents, convention visitors, and airport travelers alike. The Music City Loop promises an approximately 8-minute underground transit time between downtown and the Nashville International Airport (BNA), removing thousands of vehicles from surface roads daily while operating as a fully electric, zero-emissions system at no cost to taxpayers.

The project fits squarely within a broader vision Musk has championed for years. In responding to a breakdown of the Loop’s construction costs, Musk posted on X: “Tunnels are so underrated.” The comment reflected a longstanding belief that underground transit represents one of the most cost-effective and scalable infrastructure solutions available. The Boring Company has claimed it can build 13 miles of twin tunnels in Nashville for between $240 million and $300 million total, a fraction of what comparable projects cost elsewhere in the country.

The Las Vegas Loop, The Boring Company’s first operational system, has served as a proof of concept. During the CONEXPO trade show in March 2026, the Vegas Loop transported approximately 82,000 passengers over five days at the Las Vegas Convention Center, demonstrating the system’s capacity during large-scale events. Nashville draws millions of convention visitors and tourists each year, and local business leaders have pointed to that same capacity as a major draw for supporting the project.

The Music City Loop was first announced in July 2025. Construction began within hours of the February 25 state approval, with The Boring Company’s Prufrock tunneling machine already in the ground the same evening. The first operational segment is targeted for late 2026, with the full route expected to be complete by 2029. The project represents one of the largest privately funded infrastructure efforts currently underway in the United States.

Elon Musk’s The Boring Company (TBC) announced today that it is building free underground Loop tunnels in three American cities: New Orleans, Louisiana; Baltimore, Maryland; and Dallas, Texas. The company had promised one winner when it launched the Tunnel Vision Challenge in January. After receiving 487 submissions, it selected three, committing to fund and construct all of them pending a feasibility review, entirely at its own expense. For a company that has faced years of skepticism over the gap between its promises and its delivered projects, choosing to expand its commitment rather than narrow it is a notable shift in both scale and accountability.

All three projects will now enter a rigorous, fully funded diligence phase that includes meetings with elected officials, regulators, community and business leaders, geotechnical borings, and a complete investigation of subsurface utilities and infrastructure. TBC confirmed that all costs associated with this diligence process are 100% funded by the company. If all three projects pass feasibility, all three get built. If only one clears the bar, that one gets built. The company’s willingness to fund the due diligence regardless of outcome removes one of the most common early-stage barriers that kills promising infrastructure proposals before they leave a spreadsheet.

Beyond the three winners, TBC announced it will continue working with two additional entrants it found compelling enough to pursue independently: the Hendersonville Utility Tunnel in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and the Morgan’s Wonderland Tunnel in San Antonio, Texas, which would notably serve one of the nation’s premier theme parks built specifically for guests with special needs.

The challenge also coincides with TBC’s most active construction period to date. The company recently began drilling on the Music City Loop near the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville, and in February it broke ground on a Loop in Dubai. Musk has long argued that the fundamental problem with urban infrastructure is cost and bureaucratic inertia, not engineering. “The key to solving traffic is making going 3D either up or down,” he said in 2018, a conviction now reflected in a company structure built to absorb the financial risk that typically stalls public projects for years.

Music City Loop could highlight The Boring Company’s real disruption

The Tunnel Vision Challenge’s most underappreciated element may be what it produced beyond three winners. Submissions came from individuals, companies, and governments across states including Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, New York, and Texas, as well as from international entrants. Musk captured the underlying logic years ago when he said, “Traffic is driving me nuts. I’m going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging.” Today, three American cities are counting on exactly that.

Elon Musk’s tunneling startup, The Boring Company, has welcomed its newest Vegas Loop station at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

The Fontainebleau is the latest resort on the Las Vegas Strip to embrace the tunneling startup’s underground transportation system.

Fontainebleau Loop station

The new Vegas Loop station is located on level V-1 of the Fontainebleau’s south valet area, as noted in a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal. According to the resort, guests will be able to travel free of charge to the stations serving the Las Vegas Convention Center, as well as to Loop stations in Encore and Westgate.

The Fontainebleau station connects to the Riviera Station, which is located in the northwest parking lot of the convention center’s West Hall. From there, passengers will be able to access the greater Vegas Loop.

Vegas Loop expansion

In December, The Boring Company began offering Vegas Loop rides to and from Harry Reid International Airport. Those trips include a limited above-ground segment, following approval from the Nevada Transportation Authority to allow surface street travel tied to Loop operations.

Under the approval, airport rides are limited to no more than four miles of surface street travel, and each trip must include a tunnel segment. The Vegas Loop currently includes more than 10 miles of tunnels. From this number, about four miles of tunnels are operational.

The Boring Company President Steve Davis previously told the Review-Journal that the University Center Loop segment, which is currently under construction, is expected to open in the first quarter of 2026. That extension would allow Loop vehicles to travel beneath Paradise Road between the convention center and the airport, with a planned station located just north of Tropicana Avenue.

Tesla vehicles operating in the Boring Company’s Vegas Loop are about to get a big change, CEO Elon Musk said.

In Las Vegas, the Boring Company operates the Vegas Loop, an underground tunnel system that uses Teslas to drop people off at various hotspots on the strip. It’s been active for a few years now and is expanding to other resorts, hotels, and destinations.

Currently, there are stops at three resorts: Westgate, the Encore, and Resorts World. However, there will eventually be “over 100 stations and span over 68 miles of tunnel,” the Vegas Loop website says.

The Loop utilizes Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to send passengers to their desired destinations. They are now being driven using the Full Self-Driving suite, but they also have safety drivers in each vehicle to ensure safety.

Tesla Cybertruck rides are crucial for Vegas Loop expansion to airport

Tesla and the Boring Company have been working to remove drivers from the vehicles used in the Loop, but now, it appears there is a set timeline to have them out, according to CEO Elon Musk:

Musk says the Boring Co. will no longer rely on safety drivers within the Teslas for operation. Instead, Tesla will look to remove the safety drivers from the cars within the next month or two, a similar timeline for what Musk believes the Robotaxi platform will look like in Austin.

In Texas, as Robotaxi continues to operate as it has since June, there are still safety monitors within the car who sit in the passenger’s seat. They are there to ensure a safe experience for riders.

When the route takes the vehicle on the highway, safety monitors move into the driver’s seat.

However, Tesla wants to be able to remove safety monitors from its vehicles in Austin by the end of the year, Musk has said recently.

In early September, Musk said that the safety monitors are “just there for the first few months to be extra safe.” He then added that there “should be no safety driver by end of year.”

The Tesla Cybertruck is set to play a critical role in the expansion of the Boring Company’s Vegas Loop, Steve Hill, President and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said.

The Vegas Loop is the Boring Company’s underground public transportation solution in Las Vegas, connecting various hot spots around The Strip and offering express rides to visitors and residents for an affordable price.

All the rides are in Tesla vehicles that operate in the loop exclusively and, evenutally, autonomously. But as the Loop continues to expand, more Tesla vehicles, apart from the Model 3 and Model Y that are currently mainstays in the operation, will begin to see an expanded role.

Enter the Tesla Cybertruck.

As The Loop will eventually have a stop at the Harry Reid International Airport, formerly known as McCarran International Airport, there is one thing that comes to mind: luggage. With groups of a few people, the Model 3 and Model Y might not be large enough to accommodate the number of bags that visitors could bring.

Hill believes this is where the Cybertruck could be the answer (via Las Vegas Review-Journal):

“As we look at going to the airport dealing with luggage matters. Cybertrucks are huge inside. They’ve got a great bed, with basically a shutter, that closes over the bed of the truck. So it makes it really easy for families and groups that are traveling together. But because that Cybertruck is available, it just expands the options and makes it much more convenient for those who need that luggage space.”

The Cybertruck is where the airport solution that the Vegas Loop offers becomes a true possibility. The size alone is more ideal for larger groups that will bring bags for an extended trip. While packing bags and splitting vehicles is also an option, some groups may want to stay together, and if the Vegas Loop would only offer separate vehicles, some may opt for Uber or other ride-sharing options.

Cybertruck Size Concerns

The Cybertruck is already a large vehicle, and there is definitely a concern as to whether the Boring Company tunnels would be ideal for the pickup.

CEO Elon Musk even took it through the tunnel on an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, where he said, “It will be quite interesting to see if we can actually fit it down there.”

It fit, but it was a tight squeeze.

Leno then commented on the ride later during his appearance on Spike Feresten’s podcast.

Musk noted the tunnel that runs under Los Angeles, to which Leno asked if the Cybertruck could go in. Musk said, “Hey, I’ve got an idea. You want to see if we can drive the Cybertruck in the tunnel? I don’t know if it’s going to fit.

Tesla Cybertruck seen driving in Boring Company’s Las Vegas loop

Leno then said on the podcast:

“We drive the Cybertruck, we barely get it into the tunnel, and now we’re going like 50 or 60 miles per hour through the tunnel with a quarter-inch on each side.”

It is not quite as extreme now. The Cybertruck made its way into the Boring Company tunnel in Las Vegas in January, and it seems to be a much better fit, thanks to its refined dimensions.

Hill said he is not sure when the Cybertruck would make its way into the Vegas Loop as an operational vehicle, especially considering the airport stop has not been added to the current Loop.

Elon Musk has a hectic schedule due to his daily operation of several billion-dollar companies. Most of us only have time to handle one full-time gig, but Musk is much different and cut from a different cloth. During a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the multiple company CEO detailed how he manages his time.

Musk runs several companies, most notably Tesla, Twitter, and SpaceX, which require daily attention from him as they are the most active in his repertoire of entities. On the sidelines are Neuralink and the Boring Company, which, for starters, are also groundbreaking in their own right but are less taxing as they require less of Musk’s daily attention.

Musk detailed his strategy for handling his workload, and that usually comes down to separating each business’s needs for a single day of the week. For example, Monday might be set aside for issues dealing with Tesla, while Tuesday might be geared more toward the daily operation of Twitter.

However, there are days that may culminate in a multiple-entity visit from Musk. Yesterday, the day of the interview, was a Tesla day, but Musk admitted that Twitter might have some of his attention during the evening hours.

“These things somewhat intertwine,” he said. “Time management is extremely difficult.”

Many might ask why Musk chooses not to have an assistant or other person help him with his scheduling needs. He says that, for the most part, it is impossible for other people to know what the priorities are in a business sense. One day might turn into a Tesla-geared day due to an immediate need.

These are things that only Musk will know due to his position.

His assistant is “part-time,” he said, but admits the hours they work would be “technically full-time.”

In the past, his time management strategies have been highlighted by many entrepreneurs and regarded as highly successful and effective. Musk has utilized a strategy called timeboxing to divide and conquer a laundry list of tasks, which has helped maintain productivity and not devote too much time to a certain thing while others may get pushed to the wayside.

One thing is for sure, many of us could not handle the workload or stress that comes with running so many companies. Musk is truly one of a kind in this scenario.

Elon Musk’s Boring Company Vegas Loop has given one 1 million passengers a ride throughout the Sin City, the company confirmed today.

After being proposed in 2019 and unveiled in April 2021, the Vegas Loop has provided a new, express-geared method of transportation for residents and visitors to travel between various hotspots in Tesla Model 3 and Model X vehicles.

A cost-effective and fast way to travel, the Boring Company Vegas Loop has already provided 1 million people with rides in Las Vegas, less than two years after its initial operation.

Initial projections showed that the Vegas Loop was capable of transporting over 4,400 passengers every hour, and projections for the future could allow as many as 20,000 people to receive affordable, express rides in Tesla vehicles each hour to travel between points of interest throughout the city.

The Vegas Loop is not operational yet. When it is operational the Vegas Loop will include numerous stops along the Las Vegas strip, including to various casinos, the Harry Reid International Airport, Allegiant Stadium, and more. The fares vary according to each trip, but the Boring Company says the 4.9-mile trip from Harry Reid International Airport to the Las Vegas Convention Center takes 5 minutes with an estimated cost of $10.

In October 2021, Clark County Commissioners unanimously approved a 51-station, 29-mile loop that would connect stations through the resort corridor, giving visitors quick access to any of the casinos or hotels that Las Vegas has to offer.

Most recently, the Boring Company was expected to purchase 1.3 acres of land near the UNLV campus, including the Thomas & Mack Center, which is home to the UNLV Rebels.

The Boring Company to purchase land from UNLV for Vegas Loop station

The Boring Co. has submitted plans for similar systems across the United States. In early 2022, the company submitted plans for a 6.2-mile loop in Miami, where traffic has routinely been a major issue.

Musk has said in the past that the goal of the Boring Co. is to solve traffic, “which plagues every major city on Earth!”

It appears that the first couple of years of operation in Vegas have helped many people avoid the troubles of traffic in the large, tourist-filled city.

Elon Musk challenged the validity of a recent report that claimed he was building an employee neighborhood in Texas that would be ideal for workers.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that Musk was planning to begin constructing a neighborhood in Bastrop County near SpaceX and Boring Co. operations, two of his entities.

The neighborhood was reportedly called “Snailbrook” and was described as “a sort of Texas utopia along the Colorado River where his employees could live and work.”

Musk had even met with landowners and real-estate developers to prepare the community for a smooth and fast construction process, according to the WSJ.

The report indicated that the neighborhood would be built upon recently-purchased farmland in the county, near sites of SpaceX and Boring Co. operations.

However, it does not seem to be in the works, after all, as Musk outright called the WSJ report “false” in a Tweet last night.

In January, it was reported that Musk was in the works to partner with Lennar Corporation, a residential construction company based in Florida but operates in Texas, along with 23 other states.

The Boring Company is building a housing project with quirky street names for workers in TX

It was labeled “Project Amazing” and could be utilized by employees to take advantage of a quick and painless commute to work if you were okay with living on your boss’s property.

It even had names that were seemingly related to Musk. “Boring Boulevard,” was one of the streets, which would only seem to be related to the company Musk runs that develops underground tunnels.

Musk has called upon himself to dispel rumors about his life and ventures, and understandably so.

Although there was some speculation about the potential neighborhood earlier this year, and Musk has also hinted toward potential projects that could be integrated into smart home systems, it seems the employee neighborhood will be on hold for now.

Elon Musk recently added Twitter to the list of companies he currently controls. Tesla, SpaceX, the Boring Company, and others have all worked as an intertwining web of entities with Musk acting as the spider. With the addition of Twitter, Musk adds another dimension to his list of companies that work with one another, all of which will ultimately culminate in the creation of X, a parent company.

While Musk’s ownership and control of Twitter are less than two weeks from its beginnings, employees of the social media network are learning a new lesson: just because it does not deal with cars, rockets, or tunnels, doesn’t mean those will not somehow come into the picture later on.

Twitter engineers learned this lesson faster than anyone as reports circulated late last week that Tesla employees were heading to downtown San Francisco to work side-by-side with the social media platform’s software people. The move was met with mixed reviews: some literally could not care less, but others felt Tesla engineers already had enough on their plate. After all, Musk said earlier this year he’d be very surprised if Tesla did not solve its Full Self-Driving suite by year’s end, and less than two months remain in 2022.

For anyone seasoned with Musk and his many ventures, the move was not all that much of a surprise. The Tesla CEO’s companies have never been wholly individualized, per se. While Tesla builds cars, SpaceX builds rockets, and the Boring Company builds underground tunnels, the three companies all have a little piece of each other. It’s more than likely just an advantage of having your hands in a lot of different buckets.

Take Tesla and SpaceX for example. The Model X drove NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken to the launchpad for the SpaceX Demo-2 launch last year. Tesla has used SpaceX welding techniques to improve the strength of aluminum parts in the Model Y. According to CNBC, Tesla sold SpaceX $2 million worth of vehicle components in Q1 2021.

NASA shows off Tesla Model X astronaut transport vehicle ahead of historic launch

Tesla and the Boring Company have an obvious connection due to the latter’s use of the former’s vehicles within its tunnels. Most notably, the Vegas Loop, which aims to revolutionize commuter and tourist travel in the Sin City, utilizes an array of Tesla vehicles to improve its express-style travel, helping to accommodate for groups of all sizes.

One of the advantages of having so many different companies in so many different industries is that eventually, situations will arise that may hint toward a conjuctive effort to solve a problem. Twitter is no different. A company that has obvious struggles in its DNA, evident through its battle with bots and spam accounts, Twitter is getting attention from some highly talented engineers at Tesla.

There are criticisms, too. Of course, Tesla investors may not love hearing that company employees are devoting time to a project that many of them disagreed with, to begin with. It is no secret that some of Musk’s biggest supporters have questioned the Twitter saga, referring to it as a distraction or a mistake. Musk, on the other hand, believes Twitter’s status as a modern-day town hall that highlights free speech is essential, and it is just one more thing he saw that he felt needed fixing.

For what it is worth, the workload and daily calendar Musk keeps is pretty impressive. A string of companies all helping one another is also a big plus and a huge advantage.

New filings with the City of Austin show that Elon Musk’s Boring Company has filed to build a private access tunnel under Tesla’s new Gigafactory Texas.

First spotted by members of the r/TeslaMotors subreddit, Permit/Case 2022-092836 SP deals with the “Colorado River Connector Tunnel,” with an address for the project listed as 12733 Tesla Road, Austin, Texas, 78725.

Of course, Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas sits on Tesla Road, as the automaker filed to change the name of the public roadway from Harold Green Road in January 2022.

The project was filed by Hunger Brauer, who, according to LinkedIn, is a Senior Civil Engineer for the Boring Company. The site’s previous owner is “COLORADO RIVER PROJECT LLC,” which is the pseudonym Tesla bought the Gigafactory Texas land from TXI Operations LP. for $97 million. The initial land Tesla acquired was worth $97 million, filings showed.

Tesla received a killer deal for Giga Texas

Tesla was then linked to additional land near Gigafactory Texas earlier this year. Filings showed that Tesla snagged land for a 220,000-square-foot warehouse located close to the new Texas automotive production facility.

The Boring Company also has close ties to the area. In December 2020, filings showed The Boring Co. registered for industrial space at 15709 Impact Way in Pflugerville, just 20 miles away from Gigafactory Texas.

What the Boring Company could be doing at this site is not precisely known, but the description of the project does state that it will be a “private access tunnel along with associated improvements.” It could be a private shuttle for Gigafactory Texas employees or simply the start of a potential large-scale underground transportation project in Austin, where Tesla moved its company headquarters last December.

The Boring Company has been developing a large-scale public transportation project in Las Vegas for several years. The Vegas Loop project recently received unanimous approval for expansion to Las Vegas City Limits, which will connect various hotels, hot spots, and McCarran Airport together in an express-style underground transit tunnel.
